Medellin has changed. Four years municipal government focused on social urban development became a territory home to the famous killers and drug cartel in an exemplary city. Four years were enough to bring about a radical change that transformed a conurbation of ghettos in the city of all, turning out a society that has lived hidden in their homes for years because of fear.
-the Outgoing Mayor Sergio Fajardo-independent understood that the best investment that governments can do is what is leading to the community. His apprenticeship began listening to people in neighborhood assemblies, taking note of their needs, their dreams and ideals of the city. Was the seed of a participatory process where all projects should have a social component that would lead to transform the land under a participatory framework. Infrastructure are of little value if not supported by a policy of corporate management, based on communication, participation and sustainability. Thus, architects, engineers, journalists, sociologists and mathematical Mayor architect son carried out the recovery of the city from the redesign of public space.
